The horse is walnut, cherry, mahogany, and other veneers. Lacewood was seleced for the ground because it
has a pocked texture similar to hoof marks in an arena. The clouds are quilted maple which has a billowy texture.
Holly and various dyed veneers make up the rest of the picture. Cherry frame and stand.
Images in this series are made by a photo interpretive process where a photograph is computer
processed to yield a line drawing which is then glued to veneer. The veneers are cut with
a knife and taped into the final picture. A critical part of the process is selecting appropriately colored veneers.
